Sustainability: A Business with Purpose
Protecting the Amazon, One Bowl at a Time
Açaí grows in one of the most precious ecosystems on Earth—the Amazon Rainforest. Our responsibility goes beyond just sourcing; we actively contribute to a sustainable supply chain that respects nature and its people.
Sustainable Sourcing – We work directly with local farmers in Brazil, ensuring ethical business practices and fair wages.
Eco-Friendly Logistics – We only use sea freight to minimize our carbon footprint—no air transport, no energy-wasting half-empty containers.
Zero-Waste Mindset – We package responsibly and focus on reducing food waste across the supply chain.
By choosing Ataste, businesses help protect the Amazon and support responsible farming.

More Than Words: Real Social Impact
Real Actions, Real Change
We don’t just talk about responsibility—we live it.
Investing in Communities – Our sourcing model creates stable jobs for local farmers, improving livelihoods in rural Brazil.
Supporting Education – We personally visit suppliers, ensuring that workers are treated fairly and children have access to schooling.
Fair Pay & Ethical Work – We carefully vet our partners, ensuring honest wages and ethical labor practices at every step.
Every bowl of Ataste açaí supports fair trade and empowers communities.

Ataste sources its products from the North of Brazil, a region where poverty and crime endangers a lot of people. By buying products from local manufacturers, people are able to work in a professional environment, find education and take part in a sustainable business model. We provide jobs for local people on (açaí) farms or at the fruit processing companies.
We hope to grow even further, so our impact on the region increases. In that way we can create more job opportunities and help families to provide for their own.
-
Ataste doesn’t assume that local companies protect and educate their workers. We go to Brazil ourselves to screen our partners and their farms to ensure our sustainable business model is applied. On a yearly basis we follow up on the projects and the people involved. We venture into the Amazon forest to visit the farmers, ask them about their life, about their work and if their kids are attending school. People meet people. Also in business.

possible impact on the environment**. We only import 40 foot containers (the big ones) full of products and we ship them from Brazil to Belgium by sea. No polluting air transport, no energy wasting half empty containers. We strive to make our operations as ecological as we can. Next to that, we only harvest wild açaí straight from the Amazon forest. Therefor, the trees don’t need extra irrigation, because of the proximity of the Amazon river.

have a strong affinity with those who practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This is how we came in contact with this wonderful sports scene, and why we started sponsoring our first BJJ athlete in 2010. Over the years this has developed into a complete sponsored team. We help experienced fighters to live from their sport, so they can compete and teach, as well as the young talented generation struggling to combine studies, work and BJJ. Full support for those who work hard to achieve their dreams! By sponsoring them we hope we can improve their future, even it's just a little bit.

Ataste & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: More Than a Sport, a Way of Life
Fueling Champions, Supporting Dreams
For Ataste, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than a sport—it’s a philosophy of resilience, discipline, and continuous self-improvement. Our connection to BJJ runs deep, not just through the athletes we sponsor, but through our founder himself.
A Black Belt in Business & on the Mats
Laurent, Ataste’s founder, isn’t just passionate about açaí—he’s a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Jackson Paulo, a rank that takes over a decade of dedication to achieve. Through training, competing, and being part of the global BJJ community, he’s witnessed firsthand the struggles athletes face in balancing their passion with financial realities.
Since 2010, we’ve actively supported rising stars in the sport, providing them with the nutritional fuel, financial aid, and visibility they need to thrive. We didn’t just jump in once they became champions—we were there before they made it to the top.
Adam Wardzinski – Sponsored in 2019 & 2020, before he became IBJJF World & European Champion, supporting him with açaí, travel budgets, and promoting açaí at his training camps in Poland.
Ademir Barreto & Fabyury Khrysthyan – Sponsored in 2021, when they were still brown and purple belts. Today, they’ve reached the absolute top of the global BJJ scene.
But our support isn’t limited to individuals. We believe in strengthening the entire BJJ ecosystem. That’s why we’ve:
Sponsored numerous competitions, ensuring athletes have the platform to showcase their talent.
Supported benefit events like De Warmste Roll in Bruges, contributing to social causes through the sport.
Brought açaí to competitions & academies, showing how BJJ and açaí are deeply linked in both performance and culture.
The Future: Açaí in Every Academy
We’ve spent years building trust within the BJJ world, and our next goal is clear: making Ataste Açaí the go-to choice in BJJ academies across Europe. Whether it’s fueling champions or helping new practitioners recover after training, we want premium açaí to be as much a part of the gym culture as the mats themselves.
Sponsoring Fighters – We provide direct financial and nutritional support to our team of sponsored athletes.
Helping Young Talents – Many young fighters struggle to balance training, work, and education—we help them stay in the game.
Promoting Sports Culture – Through @atastebjj and AtasteBJJ.com, we share stories, highlights, and support the growth of the sport.
We believe that discipline in sports translates to discipline in life. By supporting athletes, we’re investing in strong, driven individuals who inspire others.
